Block Therapy Classes

You don’t need to bring anything – blocks and yoga mats provided.

Reserving a Spot

As the studio has limited space, it is VERY important that students reserve their spot for
every class. Students can use the sign-up sheet at the studio or text Nicolette at 780.699.1816.
Students are asked to provide 24-hour notice if they cannot attend a class they signed up for.

Intake Forms

Students are required to complete the Liability Waiver and Intake form prior to their first class.
New students are also asked to come ten minutes early to their first class so Nicolette can go over their
Intake form with them and do a quick posture assessment.

Quick Notes Before You Begin

Clothing with pockets or thick seams can make certain block positions extra uncomfortable.
For women, when doing upper body work, a sports bra is generally more comfortable than a regular bra.

When doing block therapy it is possible to have a “healing crisis”. This means that as the body releases toxins and realigns itself, a student may experience one or more of the following:

– Nausea                                               – Headache                                     – Soreness                                            – Skin rash
– Flu-like symptoms                            – Fatigue                                         – Rib release                                         – Emotional release

Nicolette is available to answer questions and offer support to any students who are experiencing a healing crisis.

Fascia can make the ribs stick together and when block work releases the fascia, the ribs can pop back into proper alignment. This can happen during class or in the hours or days after class. A rib release can be as painful as a broken rib and can last a few days or a few weeks. It’s natural to want to avoid a rib release however the benefits of creating more space in the rib cage are many! The best way to treat a rib release is by gently breathing into the area, putting gentle pressure on the area when possible, and warming the area by using something like a red light therapy or heating pad. It is very important never to ice a rib release because that actually slows healing.

Fascia adhesions develop over time. Therefore, when we work the fascia system, we are going back in time in the body. As such, we may release long-held restrictions that formed around difficult emotional experiences. It is not uncommon for stored trauma, stress, anger, grief, etc., to surface as we do block work. Nicolette is very experienced in working through emotional releases so any student having that experience is welcome, if comfortable, to discuss their experience with Nicolette either during or after class.

Private Sessions

A group Block Therapy class requires students to be fairly mobile. Students need to be able to come from standing to sitting to lying down and vice versa.

If your mobility is limited, you can still access all the powerful benefits of Block Therapy, however modifications will need to be made to how the work is done. A private session allows the time and space to make those modifications.

To book a private session, please phone
or text Nicolette at 780.699.1816.

Private sessions are tailored entirely to your needs. Each 60-minute session is $85 and provides focused, dedicated time to work toward your specific goals.
